Antique gold filled woven mesh watch fob chain, made by S.O. Bigney of Attleboro, Massachusetts. Woven mesh with diamond shaped slider dated '06. 1906 was the year of the great San Francisco earthquake and fire, but this date signified an important life event of the wearer, perhaps a wedding or anniversary. This piece has a patented clamp type mechanism that enables it to be worn on any article of clothing, even without a buttonhole. The mechanism is marked PAT'D (patented). I enjoy wearing watch chains, even without a watch they are stunning accessories and everyone comments on them when I do wear them. The lobster claw clasp is marked S.O.B. (S.O. Bigney & Company) and has what I believe is their maker's mark although I can't quite make it out. Overall, this piece measures 8 1/2" in length, the woven mesh part measures 4" in length. Very good, original condition, gold filled with patina commensurate with age. The patented clamp mechanism works well and holds securely.
