Fabulous large porcelain brooch hand painted with luscious purple pansies against a vivid blue, teal, and purple ground. The artist has painted a sunny cream color in the background, perfectly lighting the purple pansies as sunlight would do. The porcelain plaque is rectangular, with rounded corners. Brass setting with a "C" clasp. Very similar to the pansy plaques shown in our Limoges books, but the brass backing covers any marks that may be found. Measures 1 7/8 inches tall and 1 1/2 inches wide, this piece is in very good condition with a tiny flake on the backside, unseen from the front or when wearing. Circa 1890, gorgeous pansy painting on porcelain.
