Delightful Victorian framed oil on board portrait of a winged Cupid carrying an arrow. Cupid is wearing a sheer blue garment and is dancing along with his wings behind him, looking for a target for his arrow. Framed in a 19th century period ornate gold frame. The framer's label is on the reverse, an English 19th century framer and gilder. The frame measures 11 1/2" tall and 9 1/2" wide and is 1 3/4" deep. The frame is from the same period as the plaque and likely original to it, with an oval opening of 6 1/2" x 4 1/2". No glass, as oil paintings are not framed under glass. Excellent condition with no damage or losses, a couple of age cracks in the frame that only add to the character of this piece. Unsigned, as far as I can tell. England, circa 1900.
