Fabulous antique miniature portrait hand painted on porcelain and framed in a gilt metal oval frame. The portrait is signed and dated by well listed famous German portrait artist, Franz Schier, (b.1852 - d.1922) and dated, Munich 1891. The subject is of a very affluent Victorian woman wearing what appears to be a mourning outfit. The portrait looks like a photograph, but it is completely hand painted, the best portrait painting we have ever owned. The quality of the painting is, well, museum quality, no doubt. The buttons and soustache trim on the woman's dress are unbelievable in detail and realism, her face and hair painted exactly as they were 118 years ago. Even the tiny laugh lines around her mouth are visible, this is an outstanding, investment quality portrait by a well listed famous portrait artist. Schier's paintings sell well into the thousands of dollars. Condition is excellent with two tiny scratches on the lady's dress. Measures 6 1/2 inches x 4 3/4 inches. Munich, 1891.
