The Rose Unfolds Rarities of the Rosalie Whyel Museum of Doll Art
The Rosalie Whyel Musuem of Doll Art is the showcase for the lifetime collection of one person. Rosalie Whyel as a child played extensively with baby dolls and paper dolls, her instinct to "Mother" always prevalent in her daily play. She went on to mother five children but her doll play continued in the more serious vein of collecting, researching and studying the history of these dolls.
She grew to love the rare and unusual dolls as they represented a challenge to collect and research. The dolls and toys within this volume are only a portion of the collection and of the rarities within that collection.. They represent a sampling from each of the historic materials from which dolls have been produced through the last three centuries to modern times,
The museum invites the public not only to enjoy these dolls as the playthings they were originally created to be, but as the works of art for which we have come to appreciate them.
