A very early and Small (7" across) English Salt Glazed Tray with pierced and molded border, dating c. 1760-1770. A most unusual size (7" x 6") this may have served as a stand for a small tureen or perhaps a teapot. Crisply molded and pierced border: there are basketweave panels separated by swags surrounding small diamond piercings. Both the molding and the piercings are very crisp, and the tray is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, lines or repairs. A wonderfully early example of English Salt Glaze.
