A pair of English Creamware Candlesticks in the form of Ionic Columns. These are second period English Creamware, dating c. 1875-1890. The columns are very faithful to true ionic decoration with the volutes (scrolls at the top), the molded decoration at the very top of the columns, the fluted column itself and the stacked discs at the base. The candlesticks are 8 ¼” tall and the bases are 3 ¼” square.
Both candlesticks are in very one condition. No cracks, chips or restorations; one stick has a very short (1/4”) faint hairline in the bowl that holds the candle, but no other lines, etc. or either piece. They make for a very elegant table setting, and yes, I too wish they were first period!
