A small blue and white transfer Staffordshire Gravy Boat, marked “Sproughton Chantry, Suffolk” from Enoch Wood and Sons Grapevine Border Series. The gravy has a transfer on each side with the large manor house, a couple strolling in the foreground a 2 groups of sheep (one in the distance close to the house) lazing in the pasture. The border includes bunches of grapes, grape flowers and leave. It is marked with a ribbon cartouche: “Sproughton Chantry, Suffolk”. The Gravy is 7” from handle to spout and measures 4 ½” to the top of the handle.
The piece is in very fine condition with no chips, cracks, restorations, etc. The transfer is crisp and the blue color strong. There is a very tiny underglaze nick on the tip of the spout, a manufacturing flaw. The transfer decorated handle is fine.
