An English Pearlware Tea Canister or Caddy, overglaze enameled in the King’s Rose Decoration, c. 1810-1820. The glaze on this canister is probably a transitional glaze between early creamware and later pearlware: there is some blue pooling on the spout, but the glaze on the bottom has a creamware tint to it. The overglaze decoration, the large rose on one side and a spray of flowers on the other, with small flowers on the sides and shoulder, is both well done and virtually complete. The canister measures 4 ½” tall and the 3 ¼” x 2 5/8”. Very fine overall condition: there are no cracks or lines and the decoration show virtually no flaking or rubbing. There is a filled chip on the spout, along with a small edge chip on the outside (both visible in the photos). No lid (don’t we all wish!!)
