English Pearlware Teapot Decorated in Pratt Colors, c. 1810
A bright and crisp English Pearlware bulbous-shaped Teapot decorated in traditional Pratt colors of orange, green and blue, and dating c. 1810. The teapot has a high, scalloped collar (with the lid recessed into the collar), and a decorated spout and handle. No maker’s mark, but a very strong pearlware glaze. The teapot measures 5 ½” tall and about 10” from handle to spout. The Pratt colors are very strong and vibrant.
The teapot is in very fine condition. No cracks, or restorations. There are 2 small edge chips, one on the collar (about ¼” in diameter) and the other on the edge of the lid1/8” – 3/16” in diameter: neither detract from the appearance of the pot. There a small stone ping (underglaze and decorated) on the side of the pot, noted for accuracy. The handle, the spout and the finial are very fine. Clean and very usable, if you are so inclined.
