A small, late 19th century Hide-Covered Dometop Box with Wallpaper Liner. The box measures 12” x 7” x 6 ½” and has metal studs and a metal handle. Probably cow hide or pigs skin. The box itself is wood with both square and round nails. Lock and hasp work (no key), but may have been a later addition. Wallpaper interior appears to be original and late 19th century. Very good condition: the hide is a bit dry to the touch and there is some fraying on the edges that surround the lid, and there is one torn or pulled spot on the back side, but no major flaws. The wallpaper interior is virtually in tact. The hasp keeps the lid closed but does not lock. This box has a wonderful look and feel about it.
