An oval “Cut and Pasted” Silhouette of a woman wearing a rather elaborate bonnet. Cut out of black paper and pasted onto another piece of paper, the silhouette is framed in a typical 1920s-1930s frame. The silhouette itself probably dates to the 1830-1840 period. It measures 2 1/4” x 2 7/8” and the frame size is 4 ¼” x 5”. The silhouette is in fine condition: there are no rips or tears. A very minor damp-stain above the head and some light rubbing along the edge of the subject’s body. The intricate cuts around the face and collar are fine. Interestingly, the painted detail in the bonnet is more visible in the photo than in person. The frame is also in good condition.
