A dark cobalt blue American Historical Staffordshire Plate in the Peace & Plenty by James & Ralph Clews, c. 1825. This plate depicts a Native American holding a basket of flowers and standing with a shield that shows the American eagle with the words “Peace /Plenty” above and below it. There is a bold flower and swag border and sheaves if wheat and a small vignette of a village at sunrise in the distance. The plate has the impressed Clews mark and measures 9” in diameter.
The plate is in excellent condition, almost like it just came out of the shipping barrel. The color is intense, yet the contrast of the transfer is good. There are no chips, cracks, lines or repairs and the surface is untouched.
