A pristine dark blue Staffordshire Platter in the “Beehive and Vase” pattern, c. 1825. The platter is unmarked, but most likely, it was made by Ralph Stevenson and Williams of Cobridge. It measures 14 ½” x 11 ¼”. The central image shows a bee skep surrounded by buzzing bees and flowers. There are vases and floral cartouches around the central image and a stippled border. The back is combed, indicating the platter’s early date. Condition is excellent! Great color, crisp, clear transfer and no chips, cracks, lines or restorations. A very popular and desirable Transferware Pattern.
