A Staffordshire Child’s Plate dating from the 1860 period showing Harlequin and Columbine, popular characters in the London Theater throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, dancing. The plate is 6 ¼” in diameter. It has a molded flower border and a double lustre line around the edge. The transfer is a dark sepia or light brown color. No maker’s marks, but there are collection numbers on the underside (this plate was part of a collection of theatrical memorabilia that sold at local auction recently). The plate is in very fine condition: there are no lines or cracks and no restorations. A very small and shallow underedge chip that is not visible from the top and an in-the-making (underglaze) chip on the back side, also not visible from the front of the plate.
