A small Staffordshire Child’s plate with a polychrome transfer showing a dog jumping through a hoop being held by an Asian Clown-figure. The plate dates c. 1840: it has a molded floral rim and a relatively broad green edge band (over-glaze enameling). The clown is standing on a small bridge, holding a whip in his left hand to encourage the dog to jump. The plate has very delicately potted and there are no maker’s marks. It is in fine condition: some light wear to the polychrome enamel but no chips, cracks, lines or restorations to the plate. It is clean and the underlying transfer is sepia in color.
