A very small (miniature) round needlework picture, c. 1840 (perhaps earlier), in its original frame. The needlework shows a Classical Landscape with ruins (pillars and the remains of what look like a Greek or Roman Temple). It is 2 5/8” in diameter and the frame size is 5” square. This needlework does not seem to have been cut-down from a larger piece. Condition is very good: probably some fading of the threads, but the tiny stitches are complete and there is no staining, holes, etc. The frame itself has some paint flaking on the edges but is otherwise in good condition also.
