A rare yellow glazed Staffordshire Baby in Cradle, dating c. 1800. There is a sleeping child in the cradle, wearing a red gown with green polka dots and surrounded by a green blanket. 4" x 1 ½" x 2 ¼" (top of the cradle bonnet). Very fine condition: no cracks, lines or repairs, only a small (3/8") and shallow rub on the cradle's edge at the foot. These Babies-in-Cradles were used as christening gifts, and probably given to the kids to play with as they got older (which explains why they are so rare and banged-up when you do find them).
