A wonderful Staffordshire Child's plate, 8" in diameter. The plate seems to be from a series entitled "Our Early Days" and is titled "Now I'm Grandfather." The transfer shows a young child sitting in a large chair, wearing spectacles and reading a newspaper. There seems to be a brandy bottle, glass, etc. on the table next to the chair and the plate has polychrome highlights. There is also a very crisply molded floral border with rose flowers and leaves. No maker's mark on this plate, it could have been made by any number of Staffordshire potters.
The plate is in very fine condition. There are no chips, cracks, lines or restorations. The transfer is strong, as are the molded flowers in the border. It also has a very rich pearlware glaze.
