A small, some might call it miniature, decorated tole / tin box from the middle of the 19th century (c. 1860 or so). The box has a strong green leaf/red flower against a white background pattern on the front, a yellow flower on the dome top and yellow accent lines on the sides. It measures 4 1/8" x 2 5/8" x 2 5/8" (to the top of the dome, excluding the loop handle). It retains its original latch and hasp and is in very fine condition: painted decoration is virtually complete and there are no splits, cracks, breaks, etc. in the box; the interior is clean and rust-free. The edges around the top of the box and the front of the lid are rolled around wire; the other edges are folded. A wonderful piece for a collection of decorated tole.
