A very large (9" diameter, 3 ¾" deep) Buffalo Pottery Deldare Footed Salad or Serving Bowl from the Fallowfield Hunt series, dated 1909. The hand-painted transfer scene on the bowl is signed `N.Sheldon' ?? (to the right of nose of the large gray horse: hard to read signature, especially in the curvature of the bowl). In addition to the main image, showing the hounds and the hunters celebrating the kill, there are scenes from the Fox Hunt around the inner and out rim. The bowl is marked on the bottom "Made at Buffalo Pottery, Deldare Ware Underglaze 1909". The bowl is in excellent condition: crisp, clean with good color and no chips, cracks, lines, etc. (Note, please, that the streaks, etc. in some of the close-up photos are flash bounce, not defects in the surface of the bowl.) Deldare Ware was produced by Buffalo Pottery in 1908, 1909 and 1911 (and again, briefly in the 1920s) and used as premiums with the purchase of Larkin Soap (both companies were owned by the same family). It has become a very popular form of American Art Pottery.
