An early (c. 1780 -1800) English Creamware Plate with a lush purple Shell or Feather edge. The 8 5/8" diameter plate has a central medallion with initials (JN ??) which are surrounded by a wreath of flowers. The edge is both enameled and molded, with nice scalloping. The plate is marked "Neale & Co" on the back with an impressed mark (a very early Neale mark). The potting is very delicate. Condition is very fine with no cracks, lines, restorations, etc. Some minor edge fritting. Purple color is incredibly rich and vibrant.
