A mid 19th Century (c. 1860, perhaps a bit earlier) Staffordshire Toby Quill Pen Holder. The Toby is standing, holding a jug in his left hand, his right hand clutching a glass to his chest. He is wearing a blue waist coat, green vest with gold buttons and pink-ish pants. Not to mention a while with gold trim tri-cornered hat. The base is white pottery with a narrow gold band around the front half. He stands 4 ½" tall and the base is about 1 ¾" across at his widest; the hole for the pen is ¼" in diameter. Very fine condition: no chips, cracks or repairs, the enamel is not flaking and there is only a tiny glaze rub on his nose.
