A rare 2 Color Rainbow Spatterware Handleless Cup & Saucer, decorated with the King's Rose, c. 1820. Red & Green spatter decoration on the exterior of the cup and on the rim of the saucer, the hand-enameled flower in the bottom of the cup and in the center of the saucer. The cup is 2 ¾" deep and 3 7/8" diameter at the top; footed base is 1 7/8" in diameter. The saucer is 5 5/8" diameter and 1 3/8" deep. Strong red and green spatter color and good enamel decoration. No maker's mark, only an impressed * on the bottom of the saucer. Nice pearlware glaze. No cracks or lines, only 2 small chips on the outside top edge of the cup, the larger being ¼" x 1/8" and the smaller being about 1/16".
