A circular molded Pratt decorated Pearlware plaque with a classical theme: Cherubs (Putti) enacting a Bacchanalia. The image of putti frolicking with bunches of grapes was a popular theme and would have been popular in England c. 1800. The plaque measures 7 ¼” in diameter and is decorated in underglaze Pratt colors of blue, brown and green. The plaque appears to have 2 areas of restorationI, faintly visible on the back side but not on the front. I tried to photograph them but to no avail: one appears to be a line/crack across the whole plaque, which could indicate it had broken into 2 pieces and restored (excellent, professional restoration); the second area is one the lower left, between 6 o’clock and 8. Again it I only visible on the back side; note the slight yellowing in the photo of the rear. The molding is very crisp and the colors remain strong. One of several molded Prattware Plaques I have on Ruby Lane.
