An early English Creamware Tiered Dessert Stand, probably sweet meats, with a cup on top. The stand. Has 4 segments and a round, pedestal base. The scalloped-edge cup on top is oval. Overall dimensions are 10 ½” x 7 ¾” and the round base is 5 ¼” x 4”; height is about 6”. There are no maker’s markings and it dates to the first quarter of the 19 century.
The piece displays magnificently, but it has had major restoration. It would make a wonderful center piece for a table or side board. When I got it, the piece was stained and poorly repaired; soaking in peroxide, it basically fell apart. My restorer put it back together (all clean breaks and no fill was needed), and it probably looks better than new right now. A very rare form that makes an impressive statement.
