An underglaze printed Tea Canister dating to the late 19th century in the popular Blue Willow Pattern. The light blue canister is 5” high and the base measures 3 3/8” x 3 1/8”. It retains its original lid (extremely rare to find a 19th center tea canister with its original – or any – lid); notice that the bottom of the lid is contoured to match the molded undulation in the lid. Both the canister and the lid are in excellent condition: no chips, cracks, lines or restorations and no soiling, inside or out. It carries a blue printed mark from John Tams & Sons. It retains labels indicating it was from the Zeller Collection (Note: Loren Zeller was long-time President of the Transferware Collectors Club and a portion of his important collection of Will was offered at Skinner’s in Massachusetts earlier this year.)
