A beautiful patriotic butterfly brooch by Swoboda. The out stretched wings have a row of Pink, White and Blue tumbled precious gemstones most likely rose quartz, white quartz and turquoise. The eyes are polished Garnet and a long oval polished Jade cabochon just below the head. The tail continues with a single row of rose quartz stones. The setting is gold tone and there is a roll over safety for the pin that stays nicely in place. This is marked Swoboda on a rectangular cartouche on the back.
Swoboda jewelry began in 1957 in Los Angeles and was quite popular with Hollywood starlets. It was sold in stores like Nordstrom, Marshall Fields and Nieman Marcus.The company closed in 1978.
