A lovely leaping frog brooch designed by Alfred Philippe of Trifari with his design patented in 1952. Arms and legs are outstretched and look at the detail of those gorgeous long toes on hands and feet. The entire body is covered in faux pears that give him a bumpy look. The eyes are Ruby Red rhinestones and a clear navette shaped rhinestone adorns the base of each limb. This is done in gold tone and it is marked Trifari Pat Pen in a rectangular cartouche. I have found the patent which is design number 166222 from January 1952.
SIZE & CONDITION: This fabulous frog is 1 7/8" high by 7/8" wide and in Very Good condition. Two of the rhinestones have yellowed a bit and in the photos you can see some glue at the base of a some of the pearls. It is not very noticeable with the naked eye, but of course these photos enlarge this piece quite a bit.
