Shimmering double leaves by Willy Winnaess for David Andersen. It is in the classic form of two leaves crossing over at their stems with the sides gently curving upwards at their base. It is silver vermeil with an Ice Blue (silvery blue) Basse-Taille enamel. I love they way you can see the veining on the metal beneath the transparent enamel. The patina on the back is just wonderful with darkened shading at the edges. It is marked with scales in a circle, D-A, 925 S in a circle and a "W" in a circle on the back. It also has the three crowns and S on the back of one of the stems so this was made to export. This is quite large which allows the shimmering blue to dazzle you. It has a "C" clasp.
SIZE & CONDITION: This beauty is 2 7/8" wide by 1 3/4" high and is in Very Good condition. The enameling looks great. There is some wear to the gold wash on the edges in the front. The pin is long and does not seem to loosen when the brooch is on clothing.
