This is a very attractive 1970's brooch signed, "Bayanihan 925". It has a wonderful Modern design and measures 1 3/4" across. It is in excellent condition with no damage, and has light patina. It is a very well made piece with a lot of molded depth that is hollow inside. The high-quality of this brand is well known among collectors of fine Modernist jewelry.
This brooch was beautifully handcrafted by renowned modernist, W. Thomas Burns of his Bayanihan jewelry company. The company was based in Massachusetts, established in 1974 by this founder who had worked for the Peace Corps in the Philippines. After he died the firm became Bayanihan LTD. His designs were an outgrowth of his Peace Corps experience in the Philippines. "Bayanihan" means working together which he was remembered for his kind deeds.
