From a local estate comes this old, classic, all solid sterling silver Roman rosary marked HMH Sterling. The Rosary is constructed of 6mm round sterling silver beads. It is in excellent condition. It is a traditional 59 bead style rosary, measures 25" in circumference (around the neck) with a 6" drop over, and a 5/8" centerpiece with the Virgin Mary with baby Jesus on one side and the Bleeding Heart on the other side. There is a large 2 1/4" long ornate crucifix, engraved on the back with the original owner's name, "Patricia Zilla", plus "HMH" and "sterling".
HMH was the first Catholic Jewelry manufacturer in the United States, established in Pawtucket, R.I., circa 1910. It is not possible to exactly date this rosary as they were made for so many years, but it is an older one, probably pre-1950.
