What did he do for a living I wonder. His attire looks Western, he is very well dressed for the out doors. Was he a surveyor, a crew boss, the owner of a business like a lumber mill? Was he a farm animal vet? He's wearing all dark colors from the large hand-tied silk bow, to his shirt, suit jacket, over coat and hat. A fine Ambro in a splendid full case. Wonderful tonal range. Good focus, great contrast. Soft pink hand- tinting to the cheeks. In my collection since purchased in NY State in 2002. Re-taped in 2003 but not by me. First time offered. The reverse shows minor flaking which a coat of black paint could easily fix. A terrific Ambrotype. A 6th plate measures 2.75" x 3.25" (7 x 8.3 cm) FREE SHIPPING.
