Quite unusual to see a wicker basket weave applied to a hip flask. It is even more unusual to find it in good condition. The bottom, once removed, serves as a drinking cup. It is decorated on both sides with an engraved cartouche with initials. This fine antique whisky flask was made by the prominent firm of James Dixon & sons, founded 1806 in Sheffield, England. The company closed its doors in 1976. Marked on the flask's top/lid. The finely woven wicker covering is in fine condition with just a knick here and there. The collar needed replacing by my silversmith who fashioned a brass one which will last longer. Due to the soft nature of the pewter its thread had deteriorated from too much use over the years. Please inspect all my photos. The last one shows a much larger flask, also by James Dixon & Sons. That one is also available. Please e-mail me if interested. The wicker flask measures 6" x 4" ( 15.3 x 10 cm) FREE SHIPPING
