Plate #2 of 3. This striking Antique transfer printed, hand-colored & enameled Plate is one of 3 on offer by me. All show a different Plains Indian Native Chief. They were made by Frank Beardmore & Co. of the Sutherland Pottery, Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent. In business for just a few years, from 1901-1915. They produced souvenir ware for the American and Canadian market among other wares. These gorgeous plates are a departure from the rather ordinary & boring plates of monuments & landmarks of cities & towns in North America. Bold & graphic they are a triumph in design. I don't know who these handsome fellows are but I'm sure they were famous warriors whose portraits here were no doubt lifted from engravings of the times or earlier. The colors are strong & brilliant. The condition is just about perfect were it not for a very minor 1" hairline at the left side of the rim, easily removed with a bit of peroxide. I would leave it alone. Very shiny glaze. I'm sure these gorgeous plates are part of a series. I would love to hear from anyone who can tell me more about them incl. who they represent & from what Tribe or Nation. Thank you. 10" (25.5 cm). FREE SHIPPING
