"Made in France" is engraved on the reverse of the left and right brass slides. Very odd since every pair of this very design (Same stripe arrangement, same raised gold wire crescent) has either an English or American maker. Perhaps only the brass slides were made in France.
This identical design has a Navy association since at least WWI according to my research. The fringed gold bullion rows consist of 24 to the top layer and 24 smaller ones behind. All present. What is not present are the insignias and 2 screw on buttons. The flat tops are made of fine brass wire. Velvet navy blue backing. Mid-20th Century is my guess. 7 3/4" long x 5 3/8" wide (19.8 x 13.7 cm). FREE SHIPPING.
