Marked 950 Silver plus maker's mark. This is a fine figural 1968 Vintage replica of the earlier original and most likely larger cup. I had it in my inventory for some years and came across it recently. My notes tell me that "Japan has over 2,400 golf clubs - Golf Classic's *TOP 50* rates the Karuizawa G.C. #38 in 2002". Doing an internet search now turns up 2 Golf Clubs by this name. The Cup on offer here was awarded or purchased at the "Karuizawa Asama Golf Club, Nagano Prefecture. It is associated with the Prince Hotel.
Designed as a Rose Bowl supported by by 3 square dimpled golf balls, it is mounted on a lacquered wooden base, the bowl being 950 silver with the frog being silver plated. Gilded interior. It is in perfect condition having been in its velvet lined presentation box since 1968. The box is 8" wide by 6" high x 7.25" deep. (20.2 x 15.3 x18.5 cm) The trophy bowl without the frog or base measures 3.5" high x just over 5.25" in diameter. The height with base and frog insert is 5.75".
