A classic c1900 Art Nouveau trinket box by the Jennings Brothers Manufacturing Co. of Bridgeport, CT. In business from 1890-1953. They were the best. They didn't just say so as the mark on this box proclaims. This design can be seen in Joanne Victorie Wiertella's book in Pewter on p 153 plate 94. The fine jewel box on offer here is in excellent condition. Originally the copper tone finish was applied to the white metal. The box was then gilded. None of the gilding remains, it has been lovingly polished off over the 115 years of its life. It is quite rare to see these antique Art Nouveau trinket boxes retain such a complete and flawless copper coating. It is also rare to see boxes of this size still having a perfect hinge and the original lining of both the bottom and its lid. Even the twisted silk cord edging the padding is present. There is a small tear to the bottom silk fabric which disappears between the folds and therefore becomes invisible. A difficult object to photograph because it is so reflective, it positively glitters! Nice large size at 6 1/4" wide x 4 1/4" high x 3 1/4" deep (16 x 10.9 x 8.3 cm). The rhinestone pin is not included. FREE SHIPPING.
