This spectacular early Yale Trophy Albumen photograph is of the highest technical quality. It was taken in the studio of G.W. Pach on 841 Broadway, NY. Setting it up must have taken hours. The pyramid shaped display is constructed of the most fantastic sporting paraphernalia. From cups & pennants of all shapes & sizes to opera glasses, steins, balls, sculling shell model, horseshoe & shamrock good luck symbols to a banner inscribed "Oct. 16, 1875 Law School". Every time I look at this exceptional photo I discover something else like that Victorian brass hand shaped clip resting on top of the stein. The banners tell us that they were won during spring & summer regattas & barge races. The lettering on them are crisp and easy to read. The full names of the barge race winners are shown on the pennants on the bottom row. I am listing the last names only. They are: Curtiss, Palmerston, Farwell, Green, Thompson & Aldrich Cox. This fine Sports photo is of MUCH higher quality than my scans convey.
In superb condition! The photograph itself is in MINT condition. The mat was trimmed a little to fit into the gilded period frame. The dust specks are from my scanner, they are not on the photo. A rare early collegiate SPORTING memento.
