This interesting boxed medicine glass and minim measure would have been part of medical care in previous generations. It is covered with black leather and there is a stamp on the top describing the contents and the name ‘Boots Cash Chemists’. Once the lid is removed, a medicine glass with lipped-top is revealed which is labelled ‘Spoons’ with tablespoons on one side and teaspoons on the other. Within this is another cylindrical and lidded compartment with a lift-off lid which states ‘Minim Measure’ in gilt script. The slender minim glass can then be lifted out to reveal measurements along the side and a small pontil mark at the bottom. The overall condition is very good for age. This would be a most interesting item to add to a collection of early medical or pharmaceutical collectibles. Diameter of box 2.5 ins (6.4cm). Total weight 88 grams. This item appears in my book, “Antique Boxes, Inside and Out” on page 216.
