Carte de Visite of Anna E. Dickenson (1842 - 1932). Anna was an orator, lecturer and writer. She spoke out against slavery and campaigned for women’s suffrage. She was the first woman to speak before the United States Congress. In this image she wears an apparent American style watch-form chatelaine with waist 'button' and short chain across the waist. This card appears to date to approximately c1865. Width 2.5 ins. X height 4 ins.
