This is an example of the extraordinary workmanship of the Regency jewellers, creating a dramatic chain which is amazingly light. The chain consists of fine decorative links twisting in the style of a rope and terminating in a beautiful clasp of gold with the finest three-dimensional stylized flowers framing four cabochon turquoises (these have some variation in colour). The clip opens with a spring mechanism and closes again securely. The overall condition of the piece is excellent for age and it tests for 14-15 carat gold. Please see all the images to fully appreciate the intricacy of the work in this piece – it was featured on a page of exquisite Regency jewellery in my book, “How the Watch was Worn, A Fashion for 500 Years” and on a gown. This chain would satisfy the demands of the most discerning of collectors and would be stunning to wear. Total length 40.5 ins (102.9cm). Weight 28 grams.
