Currently on Ruby Lane we have listed a collection of miniature watch accessories suitable for a fashion doll – some for a girl doll and a couple for a boy. They were collected to illustrate the universal use of a watch as a fashion statement and concentrate on the varieties of styles for wearing a watch. Most are vintage re-creations and a couple are from an earlier age. Any would be a desirable addition to any lovely doll. This example is fashioned in the form of a pendant watch complete with its chain which has a functioning screw opening. The watch itself is surrounded with decorative gilt metal and three tiny pink beads. The watch is surrounded with the same gilt metal design and the glass covered face has a gold tone dial with painted Roman numerals and hands as well as the words QUARTZ and Paris. The back of the watch is of decorative gilt metal. The piece is in very good condition for age and would make a lovely addition to your special bébé doll. Maximum length with closed chain 8 ins (20.3cm). Weight 2 grams. This item appears in my book, “How the Watch was Worn, A Fashion for 500 Years” on page 210.
