This is an intriguing pair of early spectacles. They feature circular rimmed lenses and arms which each fold twice, terminating in a pierced oval section that would have sat near the temple. When extended these have a bend so that they would fit the shape of the head. It is possible that these may have an Oriental origin. These would fit very nicely into a chatelaine or standard spectacle case. They are in very good condition for age and would make a lovely addition to an optical collection. Closed width 4.5 ins (11.5cm). Weight 38 grams.
