This is a lovely quality and classic wristwatch of the Art Deco period. The maker is E Gubelin and the watch itself is of platinum, pavé set with diamonds. The face is tonneau-shaped with hands and numerals clearly visible. Inside the back it is marked 'E. Gübelin, Switzerland'. The band is of white gold mesh with security closure. The watch is in working order but the accuracy of time-keeping has not been verified. There is some slight staining on the dial but this does not detract. The watch will be shipped in a black velvet presentation box. This would be a beautiful cocktail-style watch to wear or to display in a collection of items from the elegant Art Deco period. This watch would fit a 6 ins wrist and would be tight on a 6.5 ins wrist. Watch measures length 1.75 ins (4.4cm) x width 0.6 ins (1.3cm). Weight 18 grams. This item appears in my book, “How the Watch was Worn, A Fashion for 500 Years” on page 239.
