This set is contained in a shaped leatherette box with gilt bandings. The box has a secure opening clip and inside is revealed a purple silk lining to the lid and a fitted velvet base – fitted for each engraved, wide napkin ring. The engraving on the rings includes ferns, flowers and other foliage. Each ring has the initial ‘W’ (or possibly an ‘M’) on one side. There are no other official markings and these appear to be silverplate. The condition of the napkin rings and box is very good for age and they would make a lovely collection to use or display. Box measures 4 ins (10cm) x 4.25 ins (10.7cm) x 2.25 ins (5.6cm). Weight 268 grams. This item appears in my book, “Antique Boxes, Inside and Out” on page 90.
