It is rare to find two matching vintage or antique inkwells. These are of glass with brass fittings. As they are fairly tall compared to their width it is most likely that these would have been used on a desk or a special writing tray rather than in a fitted box. When in use, it is probable that one would have held black ink and the other blue or red ink. The condition is good for age with some residual tarnish on the brass and a small number of tiny chips to the base and edges. They would be a great addition to complete a desk set or just possibly complete a writing box of the appropriate dimensions. Base of each measures 2.4cm x 2.4cm. Height of each 4cm. Combined weight 78 grams.
