These three items are fascinating reminders of previous generations. One is a packet of “Neweys” hooks and eyes and includes a number of these as can be seen in the image. Another packet is the “PATENT SWAN BILL STEEL WIRE” hooks and eyes which are black and again includes a collection of the fasteners. This box has not been opened to determine how many are included. The third item is a cylinder containing a large number of black-headed ‘toilet pins’ by “WREATH & LION” Company. The first name is intriguingly appropriate for pins that could well have been used for mourning or else to attach black items such as a Maltese lace collar. It is quite rare to find these still within their packaging. All three items are in good condition for age and are special in that they contain their original contents. Maximum length of toilet pin package 1.6 ins (4cm). Combined weight 6 grams. The hook & eye boxes were illustrated in my book, “Antique Boxes, Inside and Out” on page 301.
