A Tunbridge spice tower with four separate compartments labeled for mace, nutmeg, ginger and cloves (some spices still in the compartments, not recommended to use!!). Despite the described wear and tear, this box presents very well. This is a highly desirable and uncommon variety of spice box and is typical of the Tunbridge examples. The decal spice labels can be easily seen but are slightly rubbed and small sections absent. As the component compartments screw together, they will not align the labels unless a couple of them are left a little looser. There is a small, very old chip off the top lid and chips off the screw sections of the lid and two of the compartments. Diameter 3.5 ins (5cm), height 7 ins (17.75cm). Weight 224 grams. This item can be seen in the book, "Antique Boxes - Inside and Out", on page 102.
