This pleasing Chinese purse has a section at the back to pass through a belt. The front of the purse has an edging of lavender braid and the embroidered decoration is of dragons in gold and green on cream silk. There are two compartments – one at the front revealed by lifting the top embroidered flap and another behind lined with a coarser cream fabric. The condition of the purse is very good for age and this would be a delightful addition to a collection of Oriental embroidered items. 4.75 ins (12cm) x 3.5 ins (9cm). 30 grams. This item appears in my book, “Chatelaines, Utility to Glorious Extravagance” on page 276.
